se olvidaron de topares: una carta a franco

‘Topares’ (1974) told the story of ‘Doña María’, the oldest lady in a remote Andalusian village, asking the general Franco to have a road built and to bring electrical power, telephon connections and water to Topares, where paradoxically the river Guadalquivir has its sources.
‘Good Morning, Portugal” (1975) was a road-documentary discovering the new Portugal after the “Revolução dos Cravos”, the “Carnation Revolution”, which opened the doors to democracy and to Europe. The film was a song for liberty in a still dictatorial Spain.
Franco’s censorship couldn’t stop these two films, shot in super-8, to become a cult in the alternative scene of the Spanish ‘cineclubs’  in the late seventies.
